چکیده

The study of income dynamics, such as the analysis of transitions into and out of poverty, has a long history. The empirical analysis of health dynamics is less well established. This paper considers the determinants of a binary indicator for the existence of functional limitations using seven waves (1991-1997) of the British Household Panel Survey(BHPS). Our analysis has two focal points : 1) the relative contributions of state dependence, heterogeneity and serial correlation in explaining the dynamics of health and, 2) the investigation of the e ects of exogenous variables, with a particular focus on educational attainment and long-run and short-run variations in income. To investigate these issues we apply static and dynamic panel probit models with exible error structures. To estimate the probit models we use maximum simulated likelihood(MSL) with antithetic acceleration and implement a recently proposed test for the existence of asymptotic bias. The dynamic models show strong positive state dependence, with the e ect for men around 150% of the e ect for women.

Probit-Based Traffic Assignment: A Comparative Study between Link-Based Simulation Algorithm and Path-Based Assignment and Generalization to Random-Coefficient Approach

Probabilistic approach of traffic assignment has been primarily developed to provide a more realistic and flexible theoretical framework to represent traveler’s route choice behavior in a transportation network. The problem of path overlapping in network modelling has been one of the main issues to be tackled. Due to its flexible covariance structure, probit model can adequately address the pro...

Evaluation of a pseudo-R2 measure for panel probit models.

A simulation study designed to evaluate the pseudo-R2T proposed in an earlier paper by Spiess and Keller suggests that, for the models considered, this measure represents the goodness of fit not only of the systematic part, but also of the assumed correlation structure in binary panel probit models.

Socioeconomic factors determining fruit and vegetable consumption among urban households in Iran

Many factors influence the fruit and vegetable (F&V) intake. Numerous studies have shown the role of economic variables such as income, wealth, and employment as the main factors in the consumption of fruit and vegetables, while social variables seem also important. In this study, various aspects of economic and social factors affecting the consumption of fruits and vegetables among Iranian hou...
